| Two-Way always on satellite Internet serviceThe HughesNet system consists of a 24x36-inch satellite dish mounted on or near your home. The dish must have a clear unobstructed view of the southern sky. Two standard coaxial cables connect the satellite dish antenna to the HughesNet “satellite modem” connected to a PC using a USB or Ethernet cable. The dish antenna sends requests to the Internet and receives Internet content via the satellite, which is in orbit approximately 22,300 miles above the equator. The satellite, in turn, communicates with HughesNet hub facility, which has a direct connection to the Internet. High-Speed: HughesNet customers can expect download speeds up to 400 kbps with a minimum of 150 kbps. Upload speeds will burst up to 150 kbps with the minimum of 50 kbps. Nationwide Availability: HughesNet service is available virtually everywhere in the continental United States, so you can control your Internet access options regardless of how far away you live from the nearest telephone switch or cable node. Service to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico will be coming soon. A future Multicast Capability: As a HughesNet subscriber you will have the opportunity to be part of a unique satellite multicast network. This means that in the future, you will be able to direct your PC to receive channels of high-quality content from HughesNet,s top entertainment and information partners, including MP3 files, software downloads, subscription content and more.
